P-38J Lighting "Yippee" Build Blog.
Part One |
Start of Construction This kit has about 30 parts and this is the start of my construction. it is in 1/144th scale so it is small.
Part Two |
Got the basic construction done and working on tinting the canopy to make it opaque due to no interier detail on the cockpit..
Part Three |
The sources for the color for this aircraft vary from orange to red and every color in between, so I have started off with testors orange and added some Testors red to get a orange red color I liked. The canopy is tinted a little too blue, but thats ok. I'm working on masking and airbrushing the canopy rails in aluminum.
Part Four |
Decaled up and final photos
Well here it is. I'm not very happy with the In-flight look, I think the in-flight looks good for jets, but not prop planes, and the canopy could have used some more work but the thing cracked almost down the middle and I decided not to risk it anymore.. It is a nice color of orange if I say so myself, and the decals went on with no problems
