Walk Around Photo Feature
Subject:  WWII Follow Me Jeep

This Photo set contains 25 photos of a WWII Follow Me Jeep.  I took these at the Mid Atlantic Air Museum's World War II Weekend in June 2012.

I am not 100% sure of the exact model of this jeep as I did not get a good shot of the data plate, but after zooming in and straining to see what it says, and comparing to other photos I have, I am pretty sure this is a Willy's MB,  but take that with a grain of salt.

The Jeep shown is a restored example on display as a living history exhibit. And comes complete with a 1/1 Scale jeep driver.

Follow Me Jeeps were used at airfields to direct aircraft to their runways, and parking area's. Jeeps close to the front generally kept their Olive Drab color.  A solid yellow was also used, along with an all over black and yellow checkerboard pattern. The reason for the bright colors was so that the Jeep could be seen by the pilots and aircrews.
