Model Gallery:     Ford Shorthauler,  AMT Kit in 1/24.

 Finished Very Early, 2002

Build Notes:

fordlouisvilleboxThis is the first model I built as an adult to start a hobby I always wanted to do, but never before could afford.

This is Kit # 6460 by AMT. I got this kit at a discount store for $5, but I've also seen it around as a re-boxed kit with a red paint job and a Coca-Cola Logo on the sides.

This truck was introduced in 1970,it was part of the L-series which stood for where they were built. In Louisville Kentucky. The Louisville line of trucks featured 650 different "systems-engineered models from LN's, single-axle conventional like this one to LNT's Tandem tractors with a GVW of up to 54,000 lbs. Another item of note was that when introduced this truck had the largest windshield ever made by a manufacturer, 1,515 square inches.

I enjoyed building this model, which was built straight out of the box. I use gloss blue out of a spray can and this model was the first time I'd used gloss spray paint. Took me 2 tries to get it right without the runs. If I had it to do over again there are many things on this model I'd do differently and maybe someday I'll try them with another one. But this one will stand as it is because it shows my work at the start of my modeling skills

The photos are not that great as they were taken with a 2 megapixal camera, which is all I had back in 2002.
