Model Gallery:     M3A2 Halftrack,  Tamiya kit in 1/35

Finished April 30, 2002

Build Notes:

M3A2halftrackboxartThis model by Tamiya is for a M3A2 Half-track, which was developed during W.W.II but never saw Production. The Kit includes a sheet to show how to convert it to the standard M3A1 Half-track which did see service. This kit is built right out of the box with only a couple of extra Weapons added for the crew. This model is The first Military vehicle I have built, and the third model I've built as a hobbyist. This is the model that turned my attempt at getting into the hobby from Frustration (see P-61 Black Widow) to a pleasure. I'm quite proud of this model, I entered it in a modeling contest at a local hobby shop and it received 2nd place in the Military vehicles and Armor Division.

This model also was my first attempt at doing figures as you can prob tell from the monotone skin colors. I've improved a lot on the figures in a year as you can see if you look at the Sd.Kfz 250/1 model. There is a lot of nice detail in this kit and I learned a lot about doing smaller details to improve a model.

Materials used:

Tamiya's M3A2 Half-Track
M3 Half-Track in Action by Squadron
Main Color is Testors Olive Drab Spray can
All colors are Model Master and Testors Enamels

The photos are not that great as they were taken with a 2 megapixal camera.
